Hey All!!
Hello All!!
I feel it is a good move to start this forum. And, as it is HFV has such a huge database and many of them love photography. I am sure this forum is going to go a long way. I hope I can contribute and learn from here at the same time.
Good Job Mod. My wishes to you for the success of this forum.
Cheers.

Re: Hey All!!
Hey Sumit. This new forum has got me interested in buying a new DSLR. Can you share your thoughts on the D400?
Thanks

hey Jagat!!
I have been using the D400 since about a year now. I am nearly satisfied with the performance.
The part that is weak in the camera is the automatic white balance control. I am not happy with this. I bought the camera without research. Later I realized about this. But, after I manually adjust the white balance, then pictures are superb.
Secondly, to achieve focus the flash is popped up in dark conditions. Some people do not prefer this. Personally, I prefer bulb like in Nikon D60 etc.
But, if you are buying a new camera then I would suggest to go for higher models of canon like 450D. Or Nikon D90. What is your budget?

Re: Hey All!!
I was considering the Nikon D3000 Digital SLR as I could keep the price at 40K. The D90 is not in my budget at the moment.

Re: Hey All!!
Hi,
I have recently bought the Nikon D3000. It is very similar to the D60 except that it has improved 11 point auto focus, better metering, larger LCD screen, better quality shutter, a VR lens in the kit etc (VR stands for vibtation reduction, and is Nikon's terminology for image stabilization). The image quality as I understand is very similar.
All Nikon lower priced models (D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D5000) do not have a built-in motor in the camera body for auto focus, and hence will need AF-S series lenses. You can use other lenses like the AF lenses, but you will have to manually focus. Nikon now has a decent collection of AF-S lenses (some of them are not too expensive). I am planning to buy a 35mm F/1.8 AF-S prime lens some time in the future.
Regards.

I was considering the Nikon D3000 Kit With AF-S DX 18-55mm VR f/3.5-5.6G with a MRP Rs. 37,950/-
How is this lens system?
